    The Alphabet Grand Prix

    Written by Andy Cox

    Illustrated by Richard Kinsey

    Ages 0-5 | 28 Pages

    Publisher: Wet Duck Publishing | ISBN-13: 9788985633900

What to Expect: Alphabet, Reading, Cars, Racing

There’s nothing more fun than competing in the Alphabet Grand Prix! But which letter will cross the finish line first? Will it be A in his Audi, K in her Kia, or V in his Volvo? How about G in his gas roadster or M in a Maserati? There are blue Sportster, grey Hondas, green Fiats, and brown Lincolns to see, and all going as fast as their drivers can race them! Each letter drives a colorful, characterful racing car while monkeys, elephants, alligators, rats, and other alphabetized animals cheer them on. Let the race begin!

Writing and letters are abstract concepts that can be tricky for beginner readers to memorize and learn—this is one reason that many young readers start their literary careers with alphabet books designed to help them associate familiar objects with specific written letters and sounds. The Alphabet Grand Prix achieves this through clever anthropomorphizing of the letters into characters bursting with personality and rhyming text that links familiar animals and cars with the sounds and letters. Bright and dynamic pencil illustrations help to bring each letter to life.

Overall, The Alphabet Grand Prix is a fun take on a classic alphabet book, sure to help car enthusiasts remember their letters.

    About the Author

Andy Cox recognized the importance of letters at a young age. Andy’s professional experience has led him to employment in offices, on the beach, on boats, and at a hot dog stand, but he still finds work most rewarding when putting letters together to create engaging stories. Andy lives in Long Beach, California with his wife and young son, all of whom enjoy reading, embarking upon adventures, swimming, and building forts. He hopes this book will encourage young readers to further pursue letters and words on their own and eventually discover the delights of reading for themselves.
