Duane’s Amazing Ocean Adventure is a picture book, intended for ages 4 – 8.

Duane would like to be the first of his species to explore the ocean. Nobunny he knows has even gotten wet all over, on purpose. Duane is well read on his favorite topic, but has yet to take the plunge. He’s so consumed by his dream that he’s taken to wearing a scuba mask and inventing stories about the deep to share with his classmates, all of which make him the object of some ridicule. Duane’s nemesis, Chet, invents a story of his own (complete with oceanside sound effects) about the horrible BURP MONSTER, which may turn out to be real! A playground accident involving Duane’s most loyal friend, Beatrix, forces him to face his destiny.

Duane’s Amazing Ocean Adventure is the story of a dreamer facing the realization of his dream. Duane’s vision and self-expression, as well as Beatrix’s quiet understanding of her somewhat eccentric friend, catch on with their classmates. The gentle theme of acceptance reinforces the idea that getting to know someone who seems a bit different can be fun and life changing!

Duane’s Amazing Ocean Adventure is the first in the Duane’s Adventures series.

This picture book is fully illustrated (22 ink, watercolor & digital illustrations).
