Katy Duffield’s Selfie with Aliens Get the Sniffles, Too!

This is me showing off my latest picture book, Aliens Get the Sniffles, Too! Since the stars of the book are Little Alien and his dog, Mars Rover, I thought it would be out of this world if my dog, Pedro, joined me for the photo. And as you can see, he’s over the moon about the whole deal. 🙂

Did you know that aliens get sick? Well, Little Alien is definitely sick—and he’s feeling EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL bad. Mama and Daddy Alien try all sorts of remedies to make him feel better (including the dreaded lunar decongestants!), but Little Alien still feels worse than a burned out meteorite. Lucky for Little Alien, though, his faithful companion, Mars Rover, goes to the ends of the universe to make him smile again.

    Katy Duffield’s Shelfie

If the truth was known, you could see books in MANY places throughout our home—on the end table next to my comfy chair, in our magazine rack, in cabinets, and on several assorted bookcases (plus an uncountable number on my e-reader!). I also currently have a pile on the floor next to me. But this photo shows my “official” bookshelf. The top shelves hold Bibles, writing books, reference books, novels, some fancy-schmancy literature books, some amazing nonfiction, and a graphic novel or two.

But the bottom shelf (Oh! The Bottom Shelf!) holds the very best books of all—picture books! The picture books (both fiction and nonfiction) are strategically placed on the bottom shelf so they will be in easy reach of our sweet book-loving granddaughter. Because if picture books aren’t made to be read by the piles-full, something is very, very wrong with the world. 🙂

    Written by Katy S. Duffield

    Illustrated by K. G. Campbell

Publisher’s Synopsis: Ahhh-flying-saucer-shooting-star-CHOO! Laughter is the best medicine when you’re a little alien feeling under the weather.

Little Alien is sick. And sick is extra-terrestrial bad when you have two scratchy throats, five ears that hurt, and three runny noses. Splatch! Sputter! Spurt! Luckily Mama and Daddy Alien have an arsenal of lunar decongestants and meteor showers on hand to make him feel a little better (not to mention a Milky Way milkshake to help the medicine go down). Even so, the family’s alien pooch, Mars Rover, can’t stand to see his little buddy feeling out of sorts. Can a loyal pup’s funny tricks finally coax a smile?
