    Kung-Fu Whiskers: Book Cover

    Kung-Fu Whiskers

    Written by Celia Sadhu

    Illustrated by Marcin Poludniak

    Ages: 4-6 | 36 Pages

Publisher: Sunflower Lane Books (2026) | ISBN: 979-8-9941201-0-1

What to Expect: Cats, chaos, family dynamics, pets, movement, and activeness.

In this sweet and funny picture book, readers will meet a pet cat with a distinctly unrealistic understanding of his identity and role in the home—a trait most cohabitors with cats will be familiar with!

Jean-Luc isn’t just any Siamese cat … he’s a kung-fu master! He trains all night, perfecting his leaps and jumps, so there is no fight he cannot win, and nothing he can’t knock over if he wants to. Jean-Luc’s humans don’t love his kung-fu antics—they don’t like it when he knocks over cups and vases. They try to stop him by penning him in and by putting things out of reach—but Jean-Luc is a master, and he always finds a way to continue the good fight! He steals chips! He steals roast chickens! Then, Jean-Luc’s humans have an idea. Maybe what this kung-fu master needs is his very own dojo?

Jean-Luc’s confidence and supreme disregard for the needs of the humans in his home are hilarious, and readers are sure to enjoy the juxtaposition between what he thinks he is doing (winning epic battles) and what he is actually doing (making a mess and stealing dinner). The quirky cartoon-style illustrations render Jean-Luc and his humans with exaggerated, expressive features that lean into the humor of the story, and the pared-back text is perfect for helping even young readers engage with confidence.

Packed with playful mayhem, Kung-Fu Whiskers is sure to be a hit in any household where a cat is part of the family.
