Novo the Space Robot: How to Shrink the Doubt Monsters

    Written by Charly Froh

    Illustrated by Zuzana Svobodová

    Ages 4+ | 40 Pages

    Publisher: Tizia-Charlotte Frohwitter | ISBN-13: 9783910542068

What to Expect: Space, adventure, self-belief, positive thinking

This story about coping with fear and doubt presents sound cognitive-behavioral ideas through engaging characters and a fun, fantasy world.

Novo the Space Robot and his friends on Planet Infinita are just like us Earthlings – except that they don’t know the secret of how to handle doubt monsters. When the doubt monsters arrive on Infinita and start spreading misery with their rays of doubt, no one knows what to do. Some hid, and some ran away, but Novo decided to search for help. He headed straight for Planet Earth, but to his dismay, the doubt monsters followed him. Luckily, Earth children know exactly how to handle doubt monsters! With their help, Planet Infinita will soon burst with fun and happiness again.

Readers will enjoy empathizing with Novo’s quirky first-person narration and spotting the similarities between Earth and Robot cultures. At the same time, they’ll learn about the power of positive thinking and self-belief as tools for combatting fear, anxiety, and doubt. Zuzana Svobodová’s colorful illustrations are full of texture and movement, bringing the alien world to life on the page. Clever text effects help beginner readers to follow the story by highlighting sounds and other important words.

Novo the Space Robot: How to Shrink the Doubt Monsters is fun, instructive, and perfect for home or classroom reading.
