The Adventures of Pablo the Pangolin

Written and Illustrated by Carole Couture

    Ages: 4-8 | 24 Pages

    Publisher: Independently Published (2024) | ISBN: 979-8317696931

What to Expect: Courage, animal conservation, friendship, environmental awareness, teamwork.

Set in the vibrant heart of the Asian jungle, The Adventures of Pablo the Pangolin introduces readers to a charming and gentle creature who discovers his courage when danger strikes.

Pablo is a happy-go-lucky pangolin who enjoys ants and spending time with his friends, Samba the monkey and Martin the magnificent myna bird. But his peaceful life is disrupted when illegal animal traffickers enter the jungle, seeking to capture a pangolin for its valuable shell. When Pablo becomes their target, he must think fast—and with the help of his loyal friends and a heroic team of jungle guardians, he finds a path to safety and freedom.

Written and illustrated by Carole Couture, the story unfolds in a straightforward and instructional tone, making it ideal for early elementary readers or classroom discussions. She shares a timely message about wildlife protection and grounds her tale in real-world issues that highlight the threats faced by exotic animals and the importance of protecting their habitats, while also offering a sense of justice and hope that reinforces the power of teamwork and courage. Couture’s artwork brings the jungle to life with lush greenery, expressive animal characters, and cinematic moments of tension and triumph.

The Adventures of Pablo the Pangolin is a compassionate introduction to wildlife conservation wrapped in an adventure that emphasizes kindness, courage, and community. Ideal for home or school settings, this story is a meaningful pick for readers who enjoy heartfelt animal tales with a real-world message.

    About the Author

Carole Couture is a Montreal-born author and retired financial advisor now residing in upstate New York with her son, Jean-Philippe. Her debut children’s book, The Adventures of Pablo the Pangolin, was written to introduce young readers to one of Earth’s most trafficked and endangered mammals. The book aims to raise awareness—through an abstract, visually engaging, and socially approachable narrative—about the global crises of illegal wildlife trafficking and poaching. By using storytelling to bridge compassion and conservation, Couture presents a gentle but meaningful path to empathy and understanding for young audiences.
