The I-Wants and the GimmiesThe I-Wants and the Gimmies

Written and Illustrated by Taylor Overbey

Crimson Dragon is proud to present Taylor Overbey’s debut book, The I-Wants and the Gimmies. Released in February 2016, this book shows that everyone should think about others regardless of differences.

Meet the Snatchberrys and Grabingtons, two families who have topped all other I-Wants and Gimmies with their self-centered games. When a member from each family meet, they begin fighting over a free kitten they found. But when danger from the sky threatens to harm the kitty, they learn that having everything isn’t as important as sharing with others. Witty verse and colorful illustrations make this an instant favorite for kids of all ages.

As a long term cartoonist and illustrator, Taylor Overbey understands the types of characters that resonate with children and adults alike, and has created a detailed world where characters from different backgrounds learn to think about others.

“My father used to call my sister and me, ‘Grab’ and ‘Snatch’, ” says Overbey, “although I was never sure which was which. It wasn’t until I had children of my own that I saw they don’t like to share, naturally. Everything is ‘Mine!’ That, and my father’s nicknames were the inspiration for The I-Wants and the Gimmies.”
