The Incredible Adventures of Casper the Cat Who Got Lost in Africa: Book 2 – The Elephants

    Written by Jennifer Ussi

    Illustrated by Lekshmi Bose

    Ages: 6-10 | 64 Pages

Publisher: Little Boola Books (2025) | ISBN: 978-1-923356-06-1

What to Expect: Friendship, journeys, endangered animals, bullying, courage.

In this second story in Casper’s adventures, readers will follow the continuing adventures of the friendly and courageous house cat as she tries to find her way home to the city.

After accidentally taking a nap in a stranger’s car and waking up to find herself lost in the African bush, Casper the Cat is hard at work trying to find her way home. She’s already outwitted poachers with the help of a family of pangolins, but now there is a new challenge to conquer: a baby elephant with a knack for attracting chaos. Baby Bugle is noisy and rambunctious, but when Casper tries and fails to help a buck whose antlers are caught in a tree and a baby elephant being bullied by older elephants, it’s Bugle who steps up to save the day—with a bit of encouragement from Casper!

In addition to the Pangolins from Book 1, the story introduces readers to a whole new set of African animals and their behaviors—including the role Toucans play in forestation by eating elephant poop! The colorful descriptions of the African bush are brought to life by the cheerful cartoon-style digital artwork. Fact pages about the different species featured in the story are provided at the end of the book, enabling readers to learn more about the bush and its habitats if they want to. The short, easy- to-read chapters are ideal for beginners in independent reading, and the focus on helping others and problem-solving makes the book and the series perfect for classroom discussions.

The Incredible Adventures of Casper the Cat, Who Got Lost in Africa, is a series that readers are sure to enjoy time and time again.
