    Age Range:  7-10

    Hardcover: 320

Publisher: Scholastic Inc. (February 26, 2019)

What to expect: Famous Friends, Animals, Adventure

Fans of the Geronimo Stilton and Thea Stilton series will want to be sure to get their hands on a copy of this exciting book. The wildly popular Thea Sisters (college-aged mice!) have arrived in a brand-new adventure. From one end of the world to the other, these five savvy mouselet friends band together to solve a decades-old mystery!

The Thea Sisters start their vacation in Scotland, preparing for relaxation, picnics and great cups of tea. Instead, the feisty mice encounter one thrilling adventure. Their new friend, Beatris, tells them the story of her intrepid sister Aurora, an archeologist who has been missing for decades. She was on the trail of some significant worldwide treasure – including the mysterious Alabaster Garden. There are bad guys, treasure maps, jet setting from continent to continent, and some pretty tricky riddles. This book has everything fans of Thea Stilton have come to love: friendship and adventure. New readers to the series will fall in love with the fearless friends and be hooked. Treasure maps and friendships? Who could ask for more!

Filled with the Thea Stilton signature illustrations and pop-out style words that show concepts or feelings (think wavy lines over the word “water” or “looking” with tiny eyes on each letter!), this is an excellent book for the advancing chapter-book reader. There are wonderful descriptions of different countries, some light notes on culture and food, and overviews of those country’s geography. This could be a great stepping stone to some non-fiction reading on any of the places mentioned. And any book that leads to even more reading is a real treat for parents!

Kids will enjoy trying to figure out the mystery, and when the book is over, want to rush out and get the next one. Thea Stilton and the Treasure Seekers is a perfect addition to the Stilton universe!
