This Little Piggy Natalie MarshallThis Little Piggy: A Fingers and Toes Nursery Rhyme Book

    Written by Natalie Marshall

    Paperback: 12 pages

    Age Range: 3 and under

    Publisher: Cartwheel Books/Scholastic 2015

    ISBN: 978-0-545-767613

What to expect: Nursery rhymes, coordinated movement

This familiar porcine classic has a cute new twist with updated illustrations and easy-to-use page turning tabs.

These little piggies have a lot of items on their to do list. Kids can follow along as the pigs go to market, eat apple pie and walk loudly home. Marshall’s illustrations are bright and colorful, utilizing modern patterns and textures that set it apart from other versions of the story. Children and adults will find the beautiful illustrations adorable. Each page features a tab with one of the happy piggies, which encourages toddlers to turn the pages themselves. Also, each page has a picture guide of the corresponding body part for acting out the nursery rhyme with toes. Start with the big toe and work your way down! My little daughter loved how she could understand the illustrations and play along with the game.

THIS LITTLE PIGGY is the first in a new “fingers and toes” series of nursery rhyme books. Preschoolers will love this classic and familiar nursery rhyme, and it will make a fun addition to your home library.

She likes to read, cook, dance, travel and forward pictures of spam sculptures to friends. If she could have dinner with any author, dead or alive, it would be a toss up between J.K. Rowling and Jane Austen. They would probably eat pasta. Yes, definitely pasta. For more information, visit: www.dccmealy.com You can also find her on Twitter: @dccmealy
