    Unlimited Squirrels in Guess What

    Unlimited Squirrels in Guess What!?

Written and Illustrated by Mo Willems

    Ages 5+ | 96 Pages

Publisher: Hyperion Books | ISBN: 9781368070935

What to Expect: Squirrels, jokes, reading, feelings, the beach

Zoom Squirrel is excited to be going to the beach in SEVEN DAYS!!! In fact, he’s so excited he shares his enthusiasm with everyone. He sings his going-to-the-beach song! He does his going-to-the-beach dance! He counts his going-to-the-beach countdown! But what will he do when he gets to the beach? When he stops to think about it, Zoom Squirrel realizes he’s not too sure. As it turns out, sand makes Zoom Squirrel itchy. Beach balls bounce off his head. And waves are NOT fun at all. Being at the beach is not Zoom Squirrel’s favorite thing… but going to the beach was still a lot of fun!

Packed with the characteristic wordplay and humor that readers have come to expect from Mo Willens and his wacky animal characters, Guess What!? is a story about two key ideas: anticipation and disappointment. Happily, both long words are nicely defined and illustrated by Research Rodent and his friends. As well as Willems’ signature dynamic cartoon illustrations, the book offers an informational page about the beach, several (a)corny jokes, and a musical score for the going-to-the-beach song.

Guess What!? is a humorous story about the beach, but it is also a book about reading, words, and the power (and fun) of knowledge and research. Mo Willems fans will not be disappointed.
