    Wild Survival: Crocodile Rescue!

    Written by Melissa Christina Marquez

    Ages 8-12 | 240 Pages

Publisher: Scholastic Paperbacks | ISBN: 9781338634921

What to Expect: Travel, nature, conservation, adventure.

Adrianna and Feye don’t have typical parents. Their parents travel the globe, rescuing exotic animals as the stars in a dramatic real-life nature show. Nevertheless, they are completely typical when it comes to laying down the law – especially when Feye gets injured in an accident that Adrianna is (at least a bit) responsible for. With the show’s success threatened and her reputation to restore, Adrianna is determined not to be sent home or left out – even if it means disobeying her parents’ orders. After all, she can handle the legendary Mega Croc of Cuba and dangerous poachers all by herself … right?

Wild Survival: Crocodile Rescue is a cunning blend of real science and fictional adventure story with enough action to keep any reader hooked. Using details drawn from the author’s real-life experiences with crocodiles, the story weaves in lessons in conservation and reality TV, exposing readers to the reality of what actually happens behind the scenes – from the complexities of animal behavior to the dangers faced by presenters and crew. Dotted throughout the story are fact cards presenting the real animals found throughout Cuba, as well as a glossary elucidating the many Spanish-language words and phrases appearing in the story. For readers who love both science and adventure, this is a great book in a fantastic series.
