      When I was little I had a babysitter who cooked up a steak and topped it with bleu cheese!! Can you imagine anything more terrific??!!

      We had a babysitter once who loved to flout the rules. We thought she was quite cool until the day she took us to the beach–in the back of her boyfriend’s pick-up truck, no less, something my mom, an RN, would never allow. No matter how we got their, we were supposed to be at home. While we were there my brother stepped on a very thick shard of glass (broken beer bottle–this was the 70’s and beaches were still pretty dirty). We had to take him to the ER, as his wound was very deep and he was bleeding like crazy. The closest hospital was the one where my mom worked, and she was called down to the ED from the floor where she worked. She was smoking mad to find us sitting there, sandy, wet, in bathing suits, with her little boy being sutured up by a colleague. I learned an important lesson for my future babysitting career from that episode.

      Would love to win this new book for my 10 and 12 year old granddaughters ..they love to read and lost most of their books when Hurricane Harvey flooded their house in Houston… the book sounds like a fun and learning experience for “want to be babysitter girls”

      My first babysitting experience was 5 houses down the street for 2 kids. One kid had the flu and threw up so many times, the pillowcases were all used up. Finally, I spread a towel by his head along with a mixing bowl just in case. My mom walked me through what to do. It was a long night because of all the linen he went through and changing the bed so many times. The next babysitting job was easy – no sickness.

      I babysat a lot growing up and one of my funniest stories is when two adorable brothers asked me if I could read, then brought me a book to “prove it…” luckily I passed their test! 🙂
