Wings Across the Sky: Book Cover

    Wings Across the Sky

    Written by Susan Lorraine Kadera

    Ages: 6-9 | 26 Pages

    Publisher: Self-Published (2025) | ISBN-13: 979-8341144217123

What to Expect: Spiritual connection, empathy, and interactive mindfulness.

Wings Across the Sky is a meditative, interactive fable about a young girl named Liora who discovers that quiet listening and empathy can build glowing bridges of unity.

In a world of quiet, icy skies, a young girl named Liora finds a mysterious, glowing feather that whispers a message of connection: “You are not alone.” Following the guidance of a celestial dove in her dreams, she witnesses how ribbons of light can bridge the gap between strangers on opposite cliffs. Liora soon realizes that the power to transform the world through kindness and spiritual listening begins within her own heart.

Less a standard story and more a spiritual and emotional workbook designed to foster empathy and self-reflection, Wings Across the Sky is poetic and rhythmic, with short, evocative chapters that mirror the “quiet strength” the author aims to convey.

Rather than a traditional narrative, the author focuses heavily on guided activity spaces, providing numerous designated areas for the reader to provide their own responses. Through abstract metaphors that convey emotional significance, Kadera successfully creates a soothing, sanctuary-like tone through minimalist prose, often using sentence fragments to emphasize moments of stillness and “divine listening.” The interactive sections include specific prompts for drawing “messenger doves,” “bridges of light,” and the “colors of the heart,” effectively turning the child into the book’s primary illustrator.

Part of The Magical Gene Series, which celebrates unique traits and “ancestral courage”, parents, educators, and counselors looking for a gentle tool to help children explore their “inner voice” and the importance of kindness will find Wings Across the Sky most rewarding.
