ZeroTheHeroJoan Holub is the author and/or illustrator of over 130 books for children, including Zero the Hero, A Kiss for You!, and What Was the Gold Rush?. Her series include the Goddess Girls series (ages 8-12) and the Heroes in Training series (ages 7-10) co-written with Suzanne Williams. She was formerly an associate art director at Scholastic, then became an illustrator, after which she sequed into writing full time—a job she love, love, loves!

    You wrote it because …

It’s fun putting a humorous middle-grade spin on Greek mythology, and seeing this immortal gossip girl get caught red-handed!

    A favorite illustrator …

I think this is a golden age of illustration! Here are a few of the many I adore: Scott Magoon, Tom Lichtenheld, Melissa Sweet, and last but not least, our Goddess Girls illustrator, Glen Hanson, and our Heroes in Training illustrator, Craig Phillips.

A literary character to vacation with …

Jarret J. Krosoczka’s Lunch Lady. She’d keep things interesting, and she can cook.
