    The Bubble: Book Cover

    The Bubble

    Written by Joseph Honor Patenaude

    Illustrated by Mauro Lirussi

    Ages 2-8 | 30 Pages

    Publisher: Patenaude Printing | ISBN-13: 9781777889630

What to Expect: Exploration, coping with fear, beauty, discovery

Created on a lovely summer day, the Bubble floats into the sky, marveling at all the beautiful things there are to see in the world. There are fields of green grass and majestic trees with leaves painted gold by the sunlight, butterflies and flowers of every color, birds and gentle deer, magnificent cities, and sparkling rivers. Everywhere the Bubble looks, there is something magnificent to see. However, when the Bubble reaches the sea, a great storm rages and the Bubble becomes frightened. Even when the storm has stopped, the Bubble is afraid to continue its journey. Will the Bubble ever be able to enjoy the beauty of the world again?

This uplifting story uses both text and images to celebrate the majesty of the world around us. Simple language makes the message about overcoming fear accessible to even the youngest readers, and the Bubble’s non-humanoid nature makes it an inclusive character that any reader can relate to. The standout feature of this book, however, are the vibrant illustrations. The translucent colors and layered textures have a fairytale quality to them that bring the radiance described by the Bubble to life.

Overall, The Bubble is a beautiful book with a positive message, perfect for shared reading and discussion.

    About the Author

Author Joseph H. Patenaude was inspired to write at an early age by his grandmother who penned her own non-fiction stories many years ago. The idea for his new picture book, The Bubble, came to him as he watched his children blow bubbles in their yard, and he imagined what would happen if one bubble kept going.

Joseph believes a good story is one that is relatable and that has characters the reader can empathize with. He hopes his young readers continue to be reminded, long after the book has closed, to believe in themselves and that our world is precious.

When he isn’t writing whimsical stories for children, Joseph is an IT professional and enjoys woodworking and creating live-edge tables, and going on travel adventures with his fiancé. They live in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. The Bubble is Joseph’s debut children’s book.
