What to Expect: Christmas, animals, religion

Donkey, Cow, Sheep, Chicken, and Bird are having a typical winter night in the barn. That is until Cow finds something in her food trough. This curiosity leads to astonishment, which soon turns into awe when Bird reveals that it’s a human baby. And not just any human baby; it’s baby Jesus, the people’s Savior!

In Bethlehem Barn, Debra Westgate-Silva has created a magical and whimsical retelling of the Christmas story. Using different animals’ points of view gives readers an enchanting perspective of how the baby Jesus came to be born in a barn and why he is so important to humans. In addition to the lively text perfect for a read-aloud story, Marcin Piwowarski has provided soft and charming illustrations sure to delight audiences.

Christmas is an exciting time of year filled with wonder and enchantment, making Bethlehem Barn a perfect addition to the holiday season for readers of all ages. This book would fit wonderfully in a home library where Christmas is celebrated. It’s a beautiful resource for anyone looking to learn more about the Christmas story in a light-hearted manner.
