An interview with Daniel Jarrett in partnership* with The Children’s Book Review and Daniel Jarrett.

Daniel Jarrett, CEO of a solar panel installation company, is committed to sharing his knowledge and expertise with the forthcoming generation. Through his children’s book, The Mighty Solar Panel, he aspires to educate young minds about the significance of clean energy and solar power.

Based in Brisbane, Australia, Daniel is motivated by his family and storytelling. His writing endeavors to stimulate constructive discourse, providing young people with new and exciting ideas that they may not have encountered previously. Daniel’s passion for clean energy and dedication to educating the world’s future generations make him a valuable voice in the field of sustainability.

When did your interest in solar energy begin?

Daniel Jarrett: As a kid, I was always playing with electronics, however, my solar energy interest peaked when I began to work in the solar power industry.

When was the first time you saw a solar farm?

I honestly don’t remember. I think it may have been a big one near Canberra, ACT, in Australia.

What’s the most fascinating thing to you about solar panels? Something that really surprised you when you first learned it.

The magic of them! How efficient they are. The amount of power and savings they generate compared to their manufacture and purchase price.

What made you decide to write this book for children?

Kids were fascinated by the solar panel system when we installed it on their parent’s home in Brisbane. The kids are often just as excited as adults but with more simple questions to answer.

What’s the secret to creating an interest in solar energy among kids?

No secret. It’s the size, novelty, and trend of them that capture their attention. I just fill in the details. Everyone loves solar power!

What would you like readers to know about the main character Jack?

That’s my 3-year-old boy. His dad sells solar power for a living.

What do you think will be the first impression that sticks with readers? An image, a
sentence, a paragraph, or a feeling?

Maybe they think of the solar panels in their home.

What do you believe will be the key takeaway that your readers will have after reading this
    book?

I hope they learn while having fun how solar panels, the grid, and batteries work and why they exist.

What made you choose to offer this book for free to readers?

Why not? They can download a free PDF version or buy a hard copy of the book on Amazon. I make money from selling solar panels, and all kids deserve to learn, not just kids who come from families with money.

Is there anything else you think we should know about yourself, your writing, or this book?

Just to keep an eye out for its sequel. Not sure what it is or what it will be called, but stay tuned, I’m sure there will be one.
