    Escape: Book Cover

    Escape

    Written by Alison Bellringer

    Ages: 10+ | 66 Pages

Publisher: Austin Macauley Publishers (2024) | ISBN: 978-1035873708

What to Expect: Friendship, family, canine companionship, responsibility.

When Kaylee runs away from home to marry Carlos, she is absolutely certain it is the right thing to do—no matter what her parents say. Soon, however, Kaylee realizes her mother’s warning that she might regret her hasty marriage was spot on—Carlos is not the man she thought, and instead of the adoring, loving man she thought she was marrying, he has turned out to be drunk and abusive—and his promise that they would return home after marrying seems very far away. After their daughter is born, things go from bad to worse, until finally, Kaylee realizes there is only one thing she can do—send her vulnerable little daughter away.

Together with its prequel, Whisper, Escape introduces more of the characters and stories that span this multigenerational story of two interlinked families. Readers will learn the history of the runaway daughter who breaks Seth’s heart in Lucas, coming to understand that trauma can cross lives and generations, but can also be healed when conscious decisions are made to change.

Kaylee grows from a naïve teenager into a courageous and caring young woman, and her story will teach readers that there is often more to people than is apparent on the surface. The message of the story is that people can change, and that offering love and care to those around you can only ever make the world a better place.

    About the Author

Alison Bellringer has been writing short stories to share with friends and family for many years and always enjoys exploring her creativity when putting pen to paper, so she is excited to have the opportunity to share her love of writing with others.

Alison loves spending time with her pet dog, a Labrador x Huntaway called Smoky, teaching her tricks and taking her for walks. She lives in a small town in New Zealand near many beautiful parks and beaches.

Alison has been playing trombone since about 2010, euphonium from mid-2019, and always likes getting together with a few friends to ‘make a joyful noise’ sharing music. She also enjoys a bit of freelance photography when she gets the chance, especially if it involves taking pictures of sunsets.

One of her books, The Bronson Escapades, is a Silver Recipient of the Mom’s Choice Awards® honorary seal of excellence, and The Wolf Cub is a 2nd Place winner of the Royal Dragonfly Book Award Competition of 2024 in both the ‘Education’ and ‘Coffee Table & Gift Books’ categories, in addition to obtaining Honorary Mention in several others: Best Cover Design, Children’s Chapter Books, Middle Grade Fiction, and Animals/Pets (a complete list of results can be found on the Story Monsters Book Awards website). Alison hugely appreciates having received this outstanding recognition, as well as all the other encouraging comments regarding her earlier works.
