    Publisher: Highlights Press (2026) | ISBN: 978-1639625185

What to Expect: Critical thinking, problem-solving, interactive, adventure, imagination

Are you a puzzle-solving genius? Then get ready for six richly illustrated escape rooms, each demanding its own way out.

Built for readers ages 8 and up, this volume will take you on an adventure to find your way off a dinosaur planet and a broken-down spaceship, out of a wizard’s castle and a video game, through a haunted cheese factory, and most terrifyingly of all, out of school! The mastermind who designed these crazy rooms was once a painter, and these brain-teasing rooms are his greatest masterpiece.  To get through, you’ll need to use escape-room logic, because every object on the page is a clue that will move you closer to the exit. Are you clever, brave, and creative enough to outsmart the Escape Artist?

Highlights has been a master of interactive books for kids for decades, and this latest puzzle book offers a deep dive into logic that readers will want to return to again and again. Each room casts the reader as the protagonist of their own adventure, actively engaging them as the investigator who moves the journey forward. Along the way, they’ll encounter a host of colorful characters, from dinosaurs selling lemonade to jump-roping frogs, bringing humor to the serious business of puzzle-cracking. Requiring deductive reasoning, the room-by-room structure and densely detailed illustrations provide layered difficulty that challenges readers and leaves them with immense satisfaction when they reach that final “aha” moment.

Rewarding patience over speed, sustained attention, and close observation, Escape Rooms! works for both lone readers and shared engagement and is perfect for kids who prefer a challenging win over instant gratification.
