    Book overview: Professor Groundhog keeps getting the weather forecast wrong! His solution? He opens a school to train groundhogs to help him accurately forecast the weather each February. With funny asides and a comic-style approach, this fact-filled, funny story is a fresh look at Groundhog Day!

    Groundhog Weather School is a Jr. Literary Guild selection, a Scholastic book club selection, and a Buyer’s Pick in Ingram’s magazine.

    Kirkus Reviews says it’s: “…a clever look at the weather…good fun that will subtly teach in between laughs.”

    Booklist calls it “clever,” “amusing,” and “inviting,” and says: “…the approach is so varied and so often witty that children will absorb the facts effortlessly.”

      Thanks for the contest and I am excited about this site. I am a library/media specialist for a K-5 elementary school of about 350+ students. Groundhog Day is always fun in the media center and this book looks like a great addition. Did you know that another name for groundhog is “whistle pig”? They actually whistle when communicating.       Great concept for a book…really allows kids in this age group to get the idea behind the Groundhog day hoopla! Great way to introduce and expand on weather ideas!

      This sounds like a wonderful book. It isn’t often you see something on Groundhog’s Day. With my daughter’s love of animals I can see this being a fun little book for us to snuggle up with
