What to expect: Unicorns and Humor

Unicorns are practically everywhere. Backpacks, stickers, wall murals, birthday party plates, bedspreads; if you can name it, there can be unicorns on it! And don’t forget stuffed unicorns. But what if those stuffed unicorns were more than just stuffies? What if they were…aliens!? Funny, charming, and sweet, INVASION OF THE UNICORNS is perfect for unicorn lovers everywhere who just know that their stuffed unicorns are more than they appear at first glance.

Special Agent Bubble07 has just landed on Earth, and he’s ready to report back to his planet and Fearless Leader about their impending invasion. Bubble07 is delighted to affirm that he does indeed look just like a stuffed toy to humans and hopes to gain access to one of our homes through a claw machine at the local arcade. But when Bubble07 is won by a human man who gives the seemingly-innocent toy to his little girl, Bubble07’s plans are thrown for a loop.

Earthling Daughter is not quite what Bubble07 had planned for. Her celebratory tea parties, her birthday campout, her surprisingly sweet hugs and kisses—maybe Bubble07 should wait until he calls for his alien backup. The seasons pass, and Bubble07 experiences the wonders of the pool, of snow, of life on Earth while being cherished down to the last fiber of his unicorn being. His final report to Fearless Leader: Instead of an invasion, perhaps the unicorns come to Earth. For a vacation!

Author David Biedrzycki’s imaginative and original story puts a playful spin on the life of stuffed unicorns, and his perfectly huggable illustrations will delight young readers. Bubble07’s journey is a thing of wonder as illustrations at the beginning of the book start out in detailed black and white, and as Bubble07 grows through life on Earth, the illustrations come alive with a riot of color. The joy of friendship, unconditional love, and wonder for our beautiful world are found in the hands of this artful and charismatic storyteller, Dabid Biedrzycki.

Surprisingly poignant and hilarious to read over again, INVASION OF THE UNICORNS will be sure to be a family favorite.
