What to expect: Unicorns, Fantasy, Handbooks and Instructional Manuals

Perhaps a young person in your life believes, quite insistently, that unicorns are among us, hidden in plain sight as hornless horses or whisps of flowers fluttering in the wind. Maybe they commandeer dinner-table conversation about a magical unicorn who visits the house at night, messing up the playroom or eating all the sugar. Sound familiar? Then The Magical Unicorn Society Official Handbook is the perfect book for your young reader.

Those who read The Magical Unicorn Society Official Handbook will discover that unicorns are real. With this guide, one can learn all there is to know about unicorns. Thanks to author Selwyn Phipps, the lucky leader of the Magical Unicorn Society, young readers will have an in on all real things about unicorns.

Phipps leads us along the history of unicorns, from their brilliant beginnings in the time of magic and the first silver and gold unicorns to the modern-day groups of unicorns that still inhabit the planet. With feeding guides, family trees, historical timelines, and unicorn track guides, your young reader will be well on their way to finding and knowing, once and for all, that unicorns are among us. After all, as the book says, “If you believe, you will start to notice the presence of unicorns all around, like fog lifting and sunlight illuminating the land.”

This charming book will become some child’s absolute favorite very quickly. This handbook, written with personalized stories of unicorns and accounts of their myths,  reads like an educated, fact-based novel. The colorful and intense illustrations will draw young readers into the rabbit hole of glowing fantasy and cherished unicorns. This book is an absolute delight for the mid to older elementary reader, who might love facts just as much as they love unicorns.

Combining the serious work of unicorn history and the levity of a personal account by author Phipps, The Magical Unicorn Society Official Handbook is a first-rate addition to a child’s library. The official-looking cover, with gold foil and dreamy unicorn illustrations, makes it gift-worthy and ready to display on a shelf. Told with grace and a smidge of humor, Phipps nails the realism of fantasy for unicorn lovers everywhere.
