It’s St. Patrick’s Day, Chloe Zoe!

Written and Illustrated by Jane Smith

    Ages: 3-7 | 34 Pages

    Publisher: Jane Smith (2025) | ISBN-13: 979-8-9857798-6-8

What to Expect: Friendship, holidays, problem-solving, creativity, St. Patrick’s Day traditions.

In It’s St. Patrick’s Day, Chloe Zoe! award-winning author-illustrator Jane Smith returns with an adorable installment in her beloved picture book series, bringing fresh artwork and holiday magic to young readers.

This delightful story follows Chloe Zoe, the elephant, and her friends as they embark on a St. Patrick’s Day adventure filled with imagination and unexpected joy. The narrative centers around Chloe Zoe and her classmates—including best friends Mary Margaret the crocodile and George, the giraffe—as they dive into the tradition of building leprechaun traps. Each child approaches the project with unique creativity: George uses gold coins as bait, Mary Margaret creates a rainbow, while Chloe Zoe combines shamrocks with her special “Charms O’Luck” cereal. Their shared goal? To catch a leprechaun who might grant them wishes, with Chloe Zoe hoping for a new class pet to replace their missing hamster, Marshmallow.

Smith’s storytelling brilliantly builds anticipation as the children prepare their traps, dream about leprechauns overnight, and return to school, buzzing with excitement. The emotional journey is exceptionally well-crafted, allowing young readers to experience both Chloe Zoe’s initial disappointment when no leprechauns are caught and her subsequent delight at discovering something even better (no spoilers here)!

The vibrant and engaging illustrations boast bold graphic elements and a color palette rich in holiday greens and cheerful rainbows. Smith’s animal characters express a fantastic range of emotions through subtle facial expressions and body language that children will easily recognize and relate to, while the classroom scenes are filled with delightful details that reward repeated readings. The cozy trim size and direct narration make this an ideal choice for beginning readers, while the engaging story ensures it will be a hit for storytime.

With its perfect blend of holiday traditions, friendship dynamics, and problem-solving, this book offers valuable educational opportunities to encourage creativity, patience, and joy in unexpected outcomes. It’s St. Patrick’s Day, Chloe Zoe! is a charming addition to any child’s holiday book collection, classroom library, or seasonal reading list.
