Magic In The Mountains: A Christmas Adventure: Book Cover

Magic In The Mountains: A Christmas Adventure

    Written by T.E. Milburn

    Ages 6+ | 175 Pages

    Publisher: The North Point Press (2023) | ISBN-13: 9798218297176

What to Expect: Christmas, adventure, friendship, and family.

Magic in the Mountains combines Christmas magic with page-turning adventure in a tale that emphasizes family solidarity.

When they set off for their annual snowboarding winter vacation with their parents, Alex and Noah have no plans except to have as much fun as possible. However, fate has something different in store for them, thanks to the mysterious crystal Noah once found in Yellowstone National Park. Although he has no idea that the crystal is magic, it marks him and his brother as the boys destined to save Christmas—or destroy it once and for all.

Santa Claus has been kidnapped by dark forces, and now those forces are after the boys who hold the crystal. The crystal, it seems, can open portals—including one that leads straight to the North Pole—but will it divide the brothers in their love for one another, just as it once divided Santa from his brother?

Alex and Noah are lovable characters who fight just enough to be believable as brothers. The real attraction, though, is the winter-wonderland setting, full of stained glass, hot cocoa, polar bears and snowy owls, frozen lakes, and Christmas trees. It’s the perfect backdrop for a story that centers on the love of family and care for others as key to the Christmas spirit, brought to life by the black and white illustrations scattered throughout the book. Despite the magical setting, contemporary dialogue keeps the story from seeming too remote from reality.

Magic in the Mountains is a heartwarming Christmas adventure perfect for shared holiday reading.
