    Mama Opossum's Misadventures: Book Cover

    Mama Opossum’s Misadventures

    Written by Gina Gallois

    Illustrated by Aleksandra Bobrek

    Ages: 4-6 | 36 Pages

    Publisher: Moonflower Press (2020) | ISBN: 978-1-7345424-9-3

What to Expect: Numbers and counting, nocturnal animals, saying goodbye, interactive, possums.

In yet another fun and interactive picture book, Gina Gallois takes readers on an adventure through the nocturnal forest, building numeracy skills along the way.

When the sun starts to set, it’s time for Mama Opossum to find some breakfast for her babies, so they climb onto her back and cling on tight. Then, disaster strikes—Mama takes a tumble and her babies fall off her back, scattering in all directions! Now she needs your help to find all ten of her missing babies before morning. Take a stroll through the nighttime forest and meet its creatures as you search—from the raccoons eating crawfish on the riverbank to bats, beavers, and even skunks. Those baby opossums are not easy to find—it’s a good thing Mama Opossum has your help!

The possums and the other forest creatures they encounter are presented as a sociable, supportive community, helping readers understand how much we have in common with other creatures. Throughout the story, readers can get involved by counting down the missing baby opossums, searching the vibrant digital illustrations for the babies hidden among the lush depictions of forest life, and learn more about opossums with the fact page at the end of the book.

Combining fun with instruction, Mama Opossum’s Misadventures is another strong addition to the Opossum collection.
