    Ralphy's Rules: Book Cover

Ralphy’s Rules for Living the Good Life

    Written by Talar Herculian Coursey

    Illustrated by Meri Andreasyan

    Ages 4+ | 36 Pages

    Publisher: Purple Butterfly Press | ISBN-13: 9781955119429

What to Expect: Friendship, kindness, growth mindset, and well-being.

Joey is a very cranky squirrel who always says mean things about himself. He tells himself he’s funny looking, no good at things—no wonder he’s so cranky! Then, one day, Joey meets Ralphy the Dog—and Ralphy shows him a very different way of seeing life. Ralphy teaches him about saying kind things to himself, trusting that he can do hard things, and understanding that when other people are mean, it’s not usually about him. He gives Joey some new ideas and sayings to practice every day—and soon, Joey is a much, MUCH less cranky squirrel!

Everyone knows someone like Joey, the squirrel, and has even seen him in themselves from time to time. However, learning to be like Ralphy and be kind to oneself and others can be much harder. Ralphy’s Rules permits readers to take control of their outlook on life, promising them that they have the power to be less like Joey and more like Ralphy. Simple line-and-color illustrations of the cartoon-like animals add a touch of fun to this vital message. At the same time, easy-to-follow dialogue allows beginner readers to connect with Joey and Ralphy and learn from them.

Ralphy’s Rules for Living the Good Life is a sweet, instructive story perfect for teaching young readers about a growth mindset and self-love.
