    Sharing is Caring, Dragon!

    Written by Bianca Schulze

    Illustrated by Samara Hardy

    Ages: 3-7 | 32 Pages

    Publisher: Clever Publishing (2024) | ISBN: 978-1956560497

What to Expect: Fantasy, Educational, Social-emotional, Picture-book, Library-themed.

Sharing is Caring, Dragon by Bianca Schulze, illustrated by Samara Hardy, is a charming picture book that teaches valuable lessons about patience, sharing, and community through an engaging story about library books.

The tale follows Dragon, who visits her local library to return and check out books. When she discovers her favorite book is already being borrowed by Sir Fiero, Dragon initially struggles with waiting her turn, leading to a tug-of-war that sends the book flying. The situation evolves into an unexpected group reading session led by a princess, ultimately showing both Dragon and Sir Fiero the joy of sharing stories with friends.

The story excels at demonstrating rather than preaching its moral lessons. Through Dragon’s journey from impatience to understanding, young readers learn naturally about taking turns and considering others’ feelings. The story also celebrates the communal aspect of libraries and reading, showing how books can bring people together.

Hardy’s illustrations are delightful, featuring vibrant colors and expressive characters. The red Dragon is particularly endearing, with clear emotions shown through simple but effective facial expressions. The library and woodland settings are warmly rendered, creating an inviting atmosphere.

This book would be particularly valuable for preschool and early elementary children learning about sharing and social skills. Its focus on libraries also makes it an excellent choice for storytime sessions or preparing children for library visits. Highly recommended for ages 3-7, especially for teaching social skills and library etiquette.
