    Tears Are Everywhere

Written and Illustrated by Kira Lynn Cain

    Ages: 4+ | 36 Pages

    Publisher: Buckman Publishing (2026) | ISBN: 9781967058075

What to Expect: Emotions, exploration, imagination, nature, self-discovery.

Written and illustrated by visual artist Kira Lynn Cain, Tears Are Everywhere offers readers a philosophical exploration of the physical and emotional experiences tears can evoke.

When we think of tears, we mostly think of our own emotions and bodies—but did you know that tears are all around us in the world as well? Tears don’t have to be just drops that fall from our eyes.

The trees have tears that water the earth and the growing plants. The sky has tears that sit waiting in the clouds for another day. Tears can bob up and down in the wide ocean or be hidden in a crowd full of strangers. Tears can be seen and heard and even read, as well as felt in our own bodies. They can be found in paintings, in stories, and in music. Where might you find tears today—and what will they mean to you?

The minimalist artwork combines textured black-and-white pen lines with bright washes of color, creating pages that feel delightfully tactile yet restful. The deceptively simple poetic language invites readers to think beyond their everyday understanding of tears to how shared emotions and experiences connect us to one another and to the natural world around us.

Particularly valuable for readers who have deep thoughts and big emotions to navigate, Tears Are Everywhere is a picture book that invites both shared discussion and silent, serene contemplation.
