    The Majestic Pigeon

    Written by William Hart

    Illustrated by Amara Venayas Rodriguez

    Ages 4+ | 32 Pages

    Publisher: Lawley Publishing (2023) | ISBN-13: 9781958302880

What to Expect: Inclusion, accessibility, kindness, zoos, and animals

The Majestic Pigeon is a gently humorous picture book with an important message to share about recognizing, accommodating, and celebrating differences.

Memo the Pigeon is excited to present… the Majestic Pigeon experience! When visitors come to the zoo, they expect to be wowed by the beautiful lions, elegant giraffes, and intelligent elephants. What they don’t expect is the most beautiful, elegant, and intelligent pigeon waiting to take them on a guided tour of the zoo. Memo is sure that with his help, the zoo visitors will have no problem understanding how important difference is to making the world exciting and fun. Unfortunately, not all of the zoo’s visitors are quite as inclusive as he is. Can Memo help them understand the importance of considering the needs of others?

Memo is an upbeat and jaunty main character who doesn’t let the rudeness of the zoo visitors get him down or hold him back for long. Cheerful digital illustrations underline his quirky personality with facial expressions and body language sure to make readers smile. Readers will also learn some fun facts about pigeons, as well as explore some of the practical aspects of accessibility in public spaces.

The Majestic Pigeon is both instructive and empowering, perfect for sparking conversations about difference and inclusion.
