What to Expect: Environment, sustainability, interactive, science, and working together.

Saving the world probably feels like a HUGE job – but did you know there are kids just like you out there already making the world a safer, cleaner, happier place? For example, at eight years old, Maya Penn started her own sustainable clothing business. Sixteen-year-old Elif Bilgin won the Google Science in Action award when she invented a way to turn banana peels into sustainable plastic. At the age of nine, John Murray started a business to produce ethically farmed, pasture-raised eggs to help combat some of the ethical issues associated with the meat industry.

What’s even more amazing is that it’s not just these extraordinary kids who can make a difference – you can too! Whether it’s growing bee-friendly flowers or finding creative ways to recycle your old clothes, everyone can help save the world with one small action at a time.

Part biography, part sustainable science fact book, and part activity book, this innovative volume tells readers the stories of kids just like them who went above and beyond to do their part to address the problems they saw with our society and planet. Accompanying each interview/biography are fact pages that teach readers the science and factual contexts of the problems each child tackled, while activity pages provide step-by-step instructions for activities readers can do to make their lives a little bit more sustainable. Simple, fun cartoon artwork and easy-to-follow page layouts help readers navigate the wealth of information easily.

You Can Change the World: The Kids’ Guide to a Better Planet is a well-written, inspirational, and practical guide to environmental activism for kids.
