Written by Elizabeth Gorcey & Liv

    Illustrated by Kajiah Jacobs

    Age Range: 4-7

    Hardcover: 32 pages

    Publisher: Bowie Books, LLC.(2018)

    ISBN: 978-0989208321

    What to expect: Books, Dogs

Read, Read, and Read is an uplifting story of a young girl, Liv, and the satisfying wonders of books.

Liv and her dog Bowie are best friends, but Bowie is not allowed at school. When at school, Liv spends time with her best human friend, Bella. One day, during recess, Bella chooses to play freeze tag with another friend and Liv feels lonely. She tries to find something else to do, but the ladybug she spots flies away and the monkey bar line is too long, so she makes her way to her favorite place: the library! In the library she is able to explore feelings, people, things, and new places all from the safety of books. The books even bring people and pets together for a sweet and happy ending.

The mother-daughter authors of Read, Read, and Read have crafted a gentle and gratifying story that pairs delightfully with Kajiah Jacobs’ line illustrations—the splashes of soft pastel colors combined with earthy brown and red tones give the story a sense of warmth and softness. By reading this book, kids can discover that they never have to be alone when they open the pages of a book; they can even find themselves in “a whole new world.”

Any child that has ever felt lonely, even just a little bit, should find Read, Read, and Readan enjoyable and encouraging book. Also recommended for any children and adults that consider themselves lovers of books!

    About the Authors

    Elizabeth and Liv Gorcey
    Elizabeth and Liv Gorcey

Olivia is a proverbial ‘old soul’, who connects with all ages and species. She and her Grandmother spent hours discussing their shared love of books. Olivia has always been an avid reader, keeping stacks of books under the covers to read with a flashlight while everyone else slept. Her love of reading lead naturally to an excitement for writing, and she is a monthly columnist for two magazines–ACT and Story Monsters Ink. She is also the first ‘kid’ book reviewer in the history of Story Monsters Ink. Olivia also writes alongside her mother-author Elizabeth Gorcey-on the children’s book series, Liv On Life. The release of the third book in the series, “Read, Read, and Read”, is slated for May of 2018. The success of the LOL Book Series has led to requests for Olivia to speak to other students about her inspiration and her experiences. Focusing on under priviliged schools and students with less access to the arts, this kid-to-kid connection has proved very successful in elementary and middle schools in South Central Los Angeles.
