So Much More! Using the Magic of Imagination: Book Cover

So Much More! Using the Magic of Imagination

    Written by Michael James

    Illustrated by Brian Blackmore

    Ages 3+ | 36 Pages

    Publisher: Majically, Inc. (2025) | ISBN-13: 979-8-9985147-0-8

What to Expect: Imagination, seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary, self-worth, dialogue, rhyme.

A bored boy learns the boundless power of imagination when his stuffed bear comes to life and shows him how everyday objects can be “so much more!”

Eli, a young boy feeling the pangs of boredom while his mom and dad are busy, is looking for a fun game to play in his room. His new stuffed bear, Bri, suddenly smiles and speaks, offering to take him on adventures and explore new worlds. Bri introduces the idea that Eli’s room and all the objects in it—from a simple box to a closet door—are not just what they seem. Michael James’s writing is straightforward and accessible for young readers, utilizing simple rhyme and rhythm throughout the narrative. The text is built on a clear, back-and-forth dialogue between the child Eli and the bear Bri, which gives the story a fun, engaging, and dynamic pace. The core message—the transformative power of imagination and self-worth—is delivered effectively and directly by the end of the book.

The illustrations by Brian Blackmore are integral to the story, visually reinforcing the magical transformations described by Bri. The pictures effectively contrast the “plain” reality of a rug or a box with the imaginative “raft” or “ship”, helping the reader see the world as Eli and Bri do. The artwork captures the wonder of imagination, strongly supporting the book’s themes.

This is a whimsical journey that encourages children to look past the ordinary and see the world as “So Much More!” Parents and teachers seeking to encourage creativity in young readers will find So Much More! to be a delightful picture book that reminds young children to look beyond the surface of the world around them.
