There Are Dinosaurs in the Library!

    Written by A. G. Allen

    Illustrated by Octavio Cordova

    Ages 4+ | 28 Pages

    Publisher: A. G. Allen (2023) | ISBN-13: 9798218197698

What to Expect: Reading, adventure, dinosaurs, imagination, and libraries.

In this funny and action-packed picture book, readers get a vivid illustration of how our imaginations can transform mundane, everyday reality and transport us to new places and adventures.

It’s library day for Mrs. Barker’s third-grade class – and everyone is excited to get going. Everyone, that is, except Alyssa. Alyssa hates libraries. Mrs. Barker has some news that might change Alyssa’s mind, though—there are dinosaurs in the library. To Alyssa’s amazement, when Mrs. Barker flips the pages of her book, dinosaurs begin to tumble out and fill the library! A baby stegosaurus, several Microceratus, and even some Compsognathus are running around. But when Alyssa flips the page herself, two terrifying predators leap out. Can Mrs. Barker save the day and convince the dinosaurs to return to the pages where they belong? Of course she can!

With its familiar and relatable settings and characters, the story and message are easy for even young readers to enjoy. While the book does contain some complicated vocabulary (“Compsognathus”; “methodically”), the use of clever font effects and dialogue make it easy for readers to spot and work out new words. Colorful cartoon illustrations underscore the humor and excitement of the text.

There Are Dinosaurs in the Library! is a fun and funny way to encourage readers to get excited about reading through imagination.
