What to Expect: Personalized Book, Emotions, Everyday Activities, Imagination

You Can Feel, {Kiyana}! is a personalized book about emotional intelligence. It uses rhyme, rhythm and familiar, everyday scenarios to help readers recognize positive emotions and learn to control their responses to negative ones.

We all experience a range of emotions—from the burst of joy we feel when we wake up on our birthday to the bouncy, energized feeling we get when we have courage. Emotions happen in our heads, affect our bodies, and influence our behaviors. Some feelings are lovely, like surprise and excitement, but others, like fear, guilt, anger, and jealousy, can be overwhelming and challenging to cope with. Luckily, with a few easy strategies, anyone can learn to keep those negative feelings under control!

The rhyming text paints familiar scenes and situations to help readers identify how events in their lives can trigger emotional responses, as well as offering specific strategies—such as deep breathing or focusing on something else—that readers can use to feel better. Fun, cartoon-like illustrations emphasize facial expressions and postures to further help readers recognize their feelings. The publishers offer a range of customization options, including the main character’s name, and hair, eye, and skin color, as well as adding a personal dedication.

The end product makes You Can Feel, {Kiyana}! a fun and valuable tool for teaching emotional intelligence.

    About the Illustrator

My name is Estrella, I was born in Valencia (Spain). I’ve been working as a freelance illustrator for a few years now. I finished my degree in Fine Arts in 2012 and finished a Professional Illustration advanced course in 2014. Since then I’ve been learning and improving as a self-taught until I started to get clients. I have made illustration work for product (Zara), for editorial (Rageot, Penguin Random House…), and I have also participated in the backgrounds and characters development for animated series such as “Talking Tom & Friends”, “Pocoyo”, “Nina & Olga” or “Arpo”.

My style is always developing in the children’s sector, especially in all that involves characters with a sweet and funny aesthetic. Currently, I try to cover more ages in order to address my work to an older audience and develop my personal style.
