    Chickaville Series: Chasing New Yolk

    Written by Mike Talplacido

    Illustrated by Jan Makasiar

    Ages: 4+ | 36 Pages

    Publisher: BookBaby | ISBN: 979-8350972894

What to Expect:  Bravery, chasing your dreams, and perseverance.

Step into the enchanting world of Chickaville, a delightful four-book series that unveils the vibrant and enigmatic life of its chicken residents.

In the first book, Chasing New Yolk, we meet Ashley Oprinton, a hen who dreams of singing in the bustling city.  But Ashley isn’t the only one with aspirations beyond Chickaville. When Lawrence, a suave gray-feathered silkie, arrives to host a music competition, Ashley finds herself in a fierce battle against the ‘mean chicks’ for her chance to leave town. Will Ashley overcome the odds, or will she be resigned to a life of egg-laying?

Author Mike Talplacido has crafted a fun picture book using a music competition to set the scene of his first Chickaville book.  Readers will be captivated by a protagonist who effectively chases her dreams and deals with real-life difficulties along the way. Simple vocabulary and an easy-to-read typeface make Chasing New Yolk a perfect story for a novice reader.  Cute illustrations provided by Jan Makassar provide excitement for a read-aloud audience.

Chasing New Yolk is a well-illustrated and delightful tale that readers will clamor to read again and again.
