    Dragged Down Deep

    Written by Michael Okon

    Ages: 15+ | 286 Pages

    Publisher: Chelshire Inc (2024) | ISBN: 978-1-950080-14-4

What to Expect: Mythical Creatures, Science, Family, Acceptance, and Open-Mindedness.

In this sophisticated young adult thriller, readers will meet a young hero with a troubling past and an obsession with uncovering the truth.

Logan Osborne chases monsters. He’s not after glory – he’s a scientist, and he wants nothing more than to prove, conclusively, once and for all, that mythical creatures really exist. It all started when his father—already ridiculed for his obsession with mermaids—was killed by one. Since then, Logan has learned to be more careful than his father, making sure others don’t know about his work, can’t brand him weird, and publicly shame him. He’s even found a teaching position with a professor who believes in his work. And he never, EVER, goes back to the place his father died in. However, now his oldest friend is missing, and it seems the mermaid might be involved. Whether he likes it or not, Logan’s career as a cryptozoologist is about to drag him deep into his own, troubled past.

Logan is determined (some might say “stubborn”), conscientious, and kind-hearted, and his passion for his field emphasizes the idea that even the strangest interests can become a career if you pursue them the right way. Readers will love the way the plot takes the fairytale creatures of children’s literature and delivers them as grown-up subjects of science—all while riding a rollercoaster plot. Readers should be advised that the story contains mature themes, including alcohol and parental death. However, these themes are handled sensitively, allowing readers to explore their emotions about growing up and finding their place in adulthood.

Dragged Down Deep is exciting, fast-paced, and utterly fascinating.
