    Frizzy Lizzy

    Written by Liz Leonard

    Illustrated by Katherine Hillier

    Ages 4-8 | 34 Pages

    Publisher: Frizzy Lizzy Books, LLC (2023) | ISBN-13: 979-8350914566

What to Expect: Hiking, family, preparation, overcoming challenges, and problem-solving.

Lizzy and her two older sisters love spending the weekends with their dad, riding their bikes, hiking, and exploring. However, one day, they take the wrong path on a long hike through the woods and wander far from home. After hours of walking, they finally emerge at a gas station, only to find they are very, VERY lost. With no supplies or even a quarter for the payphone, Lizzy’s dad is unprepared for this emergency! Luckily, Lizzy is—the pocketbook she carries everywhere (even though her sisters think it’s weird) has money and snacks to keep everyone’s spirits up for the ride home. Frizzy Lizzy saved the day!

Adventures can be fun and magical, but as Frizzy Lizzy shows, they can also come with unpleasant surprises and unexpected turns of events. First in the Frizzy Lizzy series, the story encourages readers to recognize that being prepared is most useful when it seems unnecessary—and to know that even when adventures go wrong, solutions can usually be found by working together. The bubbly personalities of all three sisters are brought vividly to life by Katherine Hillier’s striking artwork, bursting with color, movement, and animated facial expressions. Although the language is simple, layers of the story are just waiting to be revealed in these richly detailed illustrations.

Frizzy Lizzy introduces a delightful cast of characters who are sure to keep delighting readers for many more books as the series develops.
