If You Could Ask Your Dog One Question …

    Written by Kim Messina

    Illustrated by Nataliia Pavliuk

    Ages 4-8 | 34 Pages

ISBN: 978-0-5782374-4-2 | Publisher: My Human ‘N’ Me

What to Expect: Dogs, Human and Animal Relations

If your dog could talk and you were able to ask it one question, what would that question be? This darling picture book, written in melodic rhyme, perfectly captures the love an owner has for her pet as well as the energetic personality of her dog.

When we form a bond with our pets, we get to know them and all their little quirks, but no matter how strong our bond, we can only assume we know what they’re thinking. How would our lives change if we knew their answers to some of our most pressing questions? Do they prefer certain snacks? Do they like short walks or long car rides? Why do they steal socks from the laundry, bark at strangers, and dig holes in the dirt? How about that cold snow on their paws? Does it sting? But the most important question would perhaps be, is their love as deep as their owner’s?

Author Kim Messina is a dog lover and founder of the pet treat company, My Human “N” Me, Inc. Her passion for dogs shines through with the choice of questions presented throughout the pages. We see the whole dog as she touches on emotions, physical activity, and nourishment. Dog lovers will easily connect with this book and will likely be inspired to think about their own set of questions to ask.

The sweet watercolor illustrations bring gentle personality as we see images such as the pooch hanging out the car window with its pink tongue flapping in the breeze, to the vignette of the knocked-over laundry basket and the fuzzy orange sock hanging from the pup’s mouth. The artwork also adds sentimentality with silhouette-style images and lots of owner-to-pet nurturing contact. This high-quality book is printed on thick paper that lends itself well for a gift book.

Any dog-loving child or adult will appreciate this heartwarming tale that beautifully captures the joys (including both the funny and frustrating moments) of being a pet owner. Recommended.
