The holiday season is here! How does your cultural heritage influence the way your family celebrates?
Holidays, whether celebrating people, victories, religious remembrance, or personal events, are often steeped in culture and tradition. Carole P. Roman’s “If You Were Me And Lived…” award-winning series shows young readers what their lives would be like if they lived in another country, providing an opportunity to learn about different customs and celebrations. Each of the books are written from a child’s perspective and loaded with fun facts that are easy for young readers to absorb, guiding them through an authentic, cultural experience. They are an excellent choice for inspiring young readers to learn more about other places in the world, as well as opening up a dialog about how their own cultural heritage influences the way their family celebrates holidays.
About the Books
It’s never too early to start teaching children about the world around them. Embraced by educators, parents, and children, the series gently and respectfully introduces the subjects of periods, cultures, and customs. Parents, grandparents, and teachers alike will love opening their children’s eyes to the world around them in a fun and easy way—and they’ll be happily surprised when they end up learning a few things themselves. It is the simplistic and positive way that award-winning author Carole P. Roman, a former social studies teacher, delivers the text that makes this series appealing. The books are short and to the point and just what you want when you’re introducing geography and culture to the youngest reading set.

I love learning about other cultures and their traditions! My family is Polish so we celebrate Christmas and usually have a big family dinner the night before.
I love being taught about other cultures and my family celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with a big family dinner the day of the holiday. I am really excited to hopefully win this giveaway so I can teach my children and grandchildren about other cultures as well.
This seems very interesting about other cultures which I enjoy reading and learning and culure plays a big part in my kid’s and family member’s lives and mine and I always teach them about other cultures so they are aware of the different lifestyle of others so they can be kind towards others and this would be a great addition towards learning more about other cultures
These books are AWESOME I love that it teaches about different countries and their cultures this would be an AWESOME books for my niece to read to her children thanks for the chance to win it for them.
we are Polish and our holiday menus have a lot to do with our Polish heritage Would love for my grandchildren to become familiar with other cultures
I am excited about this giveaway because these books would be great for my kids. They would love them. We don’t really influence the holidays with our cultural heritage.
I’m excited about the books in the giveaway for my nieces and nephews.

I’m always learning for great learning and teaching tools/resources.
This would be nice for the grandchildren. Our family line comes from Germany, Ireland, Amsterdam and England.
My daughter loves reading about the different countries and learning about all the cultures around us.
I would love to win this for my niece who loves to learn about different cultures!
We are 1st generation Europeans and we are bringing family traditions to the holidays. These books would be great for our grandkids to learn more about the foods and traditions we celebrate during the holidays!
We homeschool and I would LOVE to share different customs and cultures with my children and explore new ways to expand our traditions. This looks like an amazing set of resources!
Other than being Christian, my heritage (English and German) doesn’t influence our holiday celebration too much. My dad, on the other hand, remembers how his parents used to wait until Christmas Eve to put up their Christmas tree, telling the children that Santa Claus brought it. I understand that this is a very German thing to do, and it made more sense to me when I realized that *their* grandparents were raised in Germany with this tradition.
My children have several of these books and love them. We have English and Norwegian ancestry and we do the British tradition of crackers on Christmas and make Krumkakken cookies (noreweigan)
I would love to win this giveaway for my daughter.
These books sound amazing. laurensparks.net
My daughter has a mix of heritages and loves learning about different cultures. We celebrate both Jewish and Christian holidays in our house.
i would love to beable to speak another language
Since I don’t have a strong cultural identity, I would love to learn about others.
we are a military family & have celebrated and/or shared in it. as a family it is something we are always looking forward to
I would be excited to win this contest because I would be able to share this lovely collection with my grandchildren. It is important to learn about other cultures as well as your own. My cultural upbringing in relation to Christmas was a typical American Christian family…Christmas tree, presents, and church.
These would be great to teach the kids about other cultures.
We celebrate in ways familiar to italian, portugese, and irish so it is very important we recognize all of them within our holiday structure, especially since we have his/hers/ and our kids so some are a little different than others. This would be great to win as it would be good for the kids.
I’d like to win this for my niece and nephew. I don’t think our celebrations are anything special.
Thanks for the contest.
I am excited to share this book with my Grand children. I have lived all over the world and want to share my experiences with them through a medium and they can understand.
I would love to win this for my grandsons.
I am excited about the possibility of winning this giveaway so that I can surprise my mom. She is a teacher and loves getting kids excited about learning. We don’t have Christmas traditions in my family tied specifically to our background. We have always gone out of our way to learn a variety of other holidays around the world and how these celebrities are a time of these year.
