Lizzy the Lucky Lab is a fun, frolicking tale of a dog, her family and friends and the health club that binds them all together.
Weymouth Club is where Lizzy’s owners work and where she spends a fair amount of her time there—enjoying physical activities, swimming, playing with friends and generally having an idyllic life—until the fateful day when she crosses paths with a car. Lizzy gets hurt and it takes her awhile to mend. But once she does, she goes straight back to Weymouth and gets back into her daily routines. Her zest for her companions and her love of mischief return once she’s back to her old self. To celebrate Lizzy’s recovery, the club throws a Doggie Paddle Day on the last day of the summer season so that members of the club and their dogs can enjoy the pool. Doggie Paddle Day becomes an annual tradition—illustrating the depth of the love that Lizzy has inspired in all those who know her.
Lizzy the Lucky Lab does a great job of highlighting the bonds between dogs and their owners and also conveys how a healthy life style from an early age positively affects a child’s future. It is clear from the story that Lizzy’s relationships are profound and her health and well-being have had an important impact not only on her owners but on her environment at large. It is a touching tale, with colorful illustrations and straightforward text that will effortlessly charm readers—much as Lizzy herself does. Lizzy the Lucky Lab is best suited for readers aged 4 to 8 and includes actual photographs of Lizzy and her family and friends.
