What to Expect:  Goal Setting, Fitting In, and Resiliency

Authors Victoria Thomas and Corbin Thomas have created a three-book compilation of stories, presented in a hardcover format, about a dog named Blue and his adventures.

In Officer Blue: Enforcer of the Rules, meet Blue and follow along as he shows us how he cares for his family and enforces the rules. But Blue aspires to become a police dog. Will he be able to achieve his dream?

Blue returns in Officer Blue: How Blue the Dog Became Officer Blue, a story promoting inclusivity and acceptance. He’s still enforcing the rules and longing to fulfill his dream of becoming a canine officer. Can Blue make his dream come true, even if he is different from his fellow canine officers?

Officer Blue and the Case of the Lost Cat sees a newly minted officer, Blue, who has big responsibilities. He must keep his oath to protect and serve everyone—even cats! But when a cat goes missing, can he put his differences aside to accomplish his mission?

Each tale features life lessons for Blue, which readers will quickly identify with—the story themes help children learn essential life skills such as goal setting, finding the right fit, and resiliency. Blue often learns these valuable lessons from other animals throughout his journey, showcasing the importance of respecting and learning from those who may have greater wisdom. The series is cleverly written with humor that appeals to children and adults, making it an enjoyable read for the whole family. Early readers are sure to easily identify words thanks to the simple vocabulary and few words per page. Pre- and emergent readers will enjoy the bright, simple illustrations conveying Blue’s story.

Officer Blue is a perfect addition to a growing reader’s library. It offers a delightful blend of humor, life lessons, and the importance of learning from others, all wrapped up in engaging canine adventures.

    About the Authors

This children’s book series is a joint mom-and-son collaborative effort, bringing together the creativity of Corbin Thomas and his mother, Victoria Thomas.

Corbin, who lives with his schnoodle, Blue, his girlfriend Lindsay, her two dogs, and her cat, has previously authored two books: King Coyote and its sequel King Coyote: RV Surf Trip. He grew up in Newport Beach, where his mother, Victoria, still resides.

Blue, the inspiration behind this book series, splits his time between Corbin and Victoria. Victoria was inspired to write these stories by watching her grandchildren play with Blue, affectionately nicknaming him “Officer Blue.” The books capture Blue’s funny and heartwarming moments, reflecting his outsized personality and the joy he brings to those around him.
