The Great Lion Escape: The Same Different Place Book One

The Great Lion Esccape: The Same Different Place

Written by Hafeez Diwan and Sara Diwan

    Ages 10+ | 288 Pages

Publisher: Hafeez Diwan and Sara Diwan | ISBN: 9798375574769

What to Expect: Aliens, parallel worlds, adventure, and friendship

With a plot line as twisty and wackadoodle as the characters that populate its pages, The Great Lion Escape is a hilarious fusion of science fiction, school story, and fantasy adventure.

Jonah, Samiya, and Archie have a lot of big problems in front of them. For a start, they have a particularly big genetically-modified lion in front of them, from whose stomach they need to rescue a man from a parallel universe. As if that wasn’t enough, they also need to protect themselves from several angry classmates—victims of their backfiring acne cream—and save the world from the sinister Master—an evil villain from another planet who plans to take over the world. Will friendship and luck be enough to solve problems this big? They’re about to find out!

The main characters are experts at finding the fun in even the direst circumstances, teaching readers that negative experiences and events are never forever. Despite the lighthearted fun, the story also models important coping strategies, such as mindfulness and meditation, normalizing them within the excitement of the plot. Readers will surely enjoy trying to figure out how all the surprising events fit together—while still learning valuable lessons along the way.

The Great Lion Escape is an entertaining read written for kids by a kid-and-parent team who gets what makes a good story.
