Horrified by the violence, he uses his powers to bring his new friend Teyanna back to life and realizes he can do more—he can go even further back in time, to before the massacre, to spread love and understanding in the hearts of the shooters! But will it be enough to stop the violence?
Jake is a warm-hearted role model, and readers will love his combination of superhero powers, like his cardinal avatar suit, and good old-fashioned values, like love and acceptance. Vibrant digital artwork throughout the story illustrates the diversity and beauty of people of color and helps readers imagine themselves in the events of 1921 alongside Jake.

About the Author
Jacqueline López is a writer and publisher with an education policy background. She thrives in bilingual/bi-cultural spaces. She loves to empower children, their families, and education professionals so that students achieve a high-quality and well-rounded education. Her first publication was as a McNair Scholar at UC Berkeley, her alma mater. She also published with UCLA, the Center for Applied Linguistics, Harvard University, and during her teaching tenure in Thailand and Dubai. She loves inspiring children to be themselves and to find books that they love to read. Instilling a love of reading in her own elementary child and in other children brings her joy.
