    Kimmy Goes Camping: Book Cover

    Kimmy Goes Camping

Written and Illustrated by Megan Pasonick

    Ages: 4-6 | 47 Pages

    Publisher: Barnes & Noble Publishing (2025) | ISBN: 979-8295493126

What to Expect: Camping, exploration, environmental awareness, family, nature.

In this picture book, readers will think about environmental stewardship and respect for nature while they learn alongside Kimmy on her first camping adventure.

In the sun-dappled Wisconsin wilderness, the Bear family have decided to take their daughter Kimmy on a camping trip for her birthday. Camping isn’t always easy—there are rainstorms and mosquitos to contend with, and other campers aren’t always as considerate as they could be. Even so, there is so much to enjoy—from canoeing on the lake to campfire breakfasts, new friends, and water-skiing on the beach. Kimmy learns how to care for the environment to leave it beautiful for others, how to stay safe when spending time outdoors, and even how to waterski like her mom! All in all, this is one of the best birthday presents Kimmy has ever had!

The bear family are responsible and considerate campers, and Kimmy’s eager curiosity and willing spirit make her the perfect camping companion. The simple language is reassuringly wholesome and rich in sensory detail, from the golden warmth of a beach morning to the goosebumps on fur-covered skin brought about by the rain, helping readers feel immersed in the natural environment of lake, forest, and beach.

Framing nature as both a challenge and a reward, Kimmy Goes Camping is ideal for confident picture-book readers who love nature and outdoor adventures.
